PRODUCT INFO

The Caloosa Indians enjoyed Macrocallista Nimbosa Clams hundreds of years ago as a staple in their regional cuisine. A native species found from waters off South Carolina and into the Florida Panhandle, Macrocallista Nimbosa clams have never before been commercialized or produced for distribution.

During our research into these incredibly rare & stunningly beautiful clams, we’ve spoken with seasoned generational Florida Fishermen who recall coming across these delicacies, but were unable to find enough to be a reliable resource to offer into market. Whatever minimal catch came in was kept local & prized for the delicate sweet flavor, smooth glassy shells & remarkable meat fill.

The shells of the Macrocallista Nimbosa Clam are unlike any other Hard Shell Clam with a smooth, polished & almost glassy appearance. Once cooked the shells transform, blooming into a striking coral coloring with the distinctive sun ray markings that offer a beautiful presentation.

Sunray Venus fresh clams are grown in a Hatchery, allowing for 100% traceability of the product. Produced and grown in the USA from Seed to the Half Shell, Sunray Venus are top quality clams.
